How much for a good used diesel?

I'm interested in buying a good used F-250 or F-350 super duty power stroke diesel later this year. Possibly 3-5 years old.

Any advice on how much I need to spend to get a nice one?

(nice= low mileage, no dents, good engine, loaded etc.)

Thanks.

Bo

Yea they really do hold their value - which is one reason I got my truck new! I'd say you'll be in the $20-25K range, to find something well maintained with low miles, maybe more if you're thinking Lariat, Dually, 4x4, ....??

go to nada.com or kbb.com and you can price the truck out, you shouldnt pay any more than 2K over trade in value, obviously the closer to trade in you can get it the better the price.. I got a sweet deal on my 2000 3 years ago because the previous owner didnt put mudd flapps on it and the paint was sand blasted off in the lower corners of the wheel wells , brought it to a body guy and had the problem area's sand blasted and painted, put on mudd guards, looks good as new. If you find a truck that needs some tlc you can save alot .. Its just like buying a fixer upper house, most people dont want to deal with the repairs.. Good luck
