I have a Pace Edwards Jackrabbit cover. I like it fairly well. The rubber gasket that seals things at the tailgait is coming loose and water leaks in at the carwash. The strap that is used to pull the sliding cover closed is always in the way when loading things. The cover flaps a lot at the tailgate when at highway speeds but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. The cover is not load bearing at all which isn't much of an issue except for the fact that it is not as sturdy as I thought it would be. I should have bought the more expensive model that has electric retraction and close but it was too expensive.
Next time I will probably try another brand.
I have the roll-n-lock and really like it. Good fit, very little movement at highway speeds. Nice and dry inside. The coil at the front is smaller than the others and does not get in the way very much, I have not missed the bed space at all. The strap does get in the way when loading stuff though, I usually have to undo it.
On my '06 F250 CC SB PSD Latiat PSD I have the PE Jack Rabit and love it. Also some leaking at the tail gate, but not bad. I just do not put anything that can be water damaged there.
Every Pace Edwards Cover that I have seen has leaked... BAD. I hear Retrax is a better option. I have a Roll-Up soft cover from Access. I like it a lot, and it is dry as a BONE!
Roll n Lock here, was very happy until the body shop took it off to replace the bedside (Another long and sordid story about why not to let others drive your truck). Leaked after that.....need to take it off and put it on right.
Don't know about the new Pace covers, but back when I bought mine, the roll n lock was the only cover that did not require drilling holes.
As far as the strap, I have a carabiner on the end that I hook to the rear tiedown. Keeps the strap handy and keeps it from getting caught up. A buddy of mine had the cover open with the strap flapping around, fell between the bed and the cab, eventually wrapped around the driveshaft and lets just say he had quite a mess to deal with after that. Cheap insurance against that kinda mishap.
YEs the roll-n-lock comes with the carabiner, not that a carabiner is very expensive, but it does come with one and it is very handy. I looked at the PE and Retrax, IMHO the roll-n-lock is far superior and does not take up as much bed room.
No complaints on my Retrax, get comments everywhere I go about it. I love how easy it is to use. I ordered from factory, mentioned I heard about it from TDS and they knocked off $100.00. Shipped Fedex and got it within 2 days. Installed easily, called Randy at the factory with a question and got an immediate answer. I LIKE IT.
Anybody that is running the Retrax, Do you ever have a problem with the sun reflextion of the lid? That is the only part i do not like about the retrax.
