what year did ford start making 250 and 350s super dutys?
Can anyone tell me what year ford started making 250's and 350's super duty's?was it in 99 or 2000 maybe? Also what is the difference between a f 350 superduty and regular 350 of the same year?I'm guessing a heaver payload?I notice the superdutys are up a little higher maybe 2" or 3" or so for some reason .thanks
thanks guys im new to the superduty thing since my truck is a 94 250 but im looking to get maybe a 99 or 2000 f 350 super duty if i can find on here.mostly im just finding the regular 350 from 99 or 2000.
Ok so then really super dutys came out in 98 as 99 models. So all 250's and 350's from 99 on are superdutys?what makes the superdutys sit up higher than the older 250 and 350s?more leaf springs?bigger blocks?what is it?what axles do they use on super dutys?dana 60 front still on the 350s? and dana 50s fronts on the 250s? and sterling 10:25 rear ends?or did they change them?
They were released for sale in March of 98 as 1999 models.
Job 1 was in January 1998. My first one was built in February 1998 and I purchased it in March. Those were the days! I got a 0.7 residual on a 3 year lease on that truck. Good luck finding a deal like that now. Anyway, the front axle on the F250 & F350 SRW was a Dana 50, the rear was a Ford Sterling 10.5", so named because it's made at the Sterling Heights, MI plant. Ordering the dual rear wheel truck got you a Dana 60 front and Dana 80 rear. There were some mid-year model changes so there is also a 1999 1/2 model year. Key changes were different front wheel hubs which required different front brake discs. The Super Duty sits higher than the F250/F350HD they replaced because the Super Duty went back to a solid axle as opposed to the "Twin Traction Beam" 4x4 setup of the older trucks. The first few months of production sit higher than later models because they were sprung harder. My '99 V10 F250 (build 02/98) had "U" code fronts and 4" blocks in the rear. After people pulling "fivers" started complaining we were offered a free "upgrade" to 2" blocks in the rear as opposed to the 4" ones the trucks came with.
