I posted a message before you guys told me to get the # on the manifold I have it. C4SE 9425A If anyone can tell me what engine this manifold was on and the vehicles if possible
That was used on both 352's and 390's in 64. Cast iron single 4bbl. Full size Ford and Merc. Probably T bird also. The T birds used a angled spacer under the carb. You need to measure the bore and stroke to find the real deal on your engine. A lot of stuff could have been changed over the last 42 years unless your postive the engine was untouched.
Thanks the intake manifold I have is not from my motor my buddy gave it to me because he couldn't put a thermostat in it which is pretty weird. The hole for the thermostat is huge the housing barely covers it.
There are two different thermostats used. An early large diameter and the later small diameter. Different thermostat and goose neck (water outlet housing) required.
Do you know how big the larger thermostat is because I've been working on vehicles a long time and I've never seen anything this big on any vehicle I checked at the local parts store and they had no clue as usual will have to check some of my older 390 motors laying around.
The numbers on the manifold say it is a 1964 manifold. So go in and ask for a thermostat and water outlet/thermostat housing for a 1964 Galaxie with a 390. They should show a different number than the later trucks.
It's aprox 2.5" diameter. I have one in a NAPA box with a "191" number. This will also cross reff as a Mopar application besides Ford. Should be no problem finding one. Ask for one for a 74 318 Dodge. Same part as the large Ford one.
There is also an adapter you can buy to use a smaller stat in a larger stat intake. A guy named Bob Hasty sells them on ebay and www.fordfe.com. Something like $7 to your door. I have one and they work well. I can get you his contact info if needed.
Just thought of this.
