I notice the ping more so under hard acceleration than while cruising. It's a 2000 E350 5.4 and it's occasionally used to tow a car trailer but mostly for light work duty. I havent tried to use 93 octane yet and it doesnt seem to ping every time but the loss of power can be felt when it does.

HI,
I would try cleaning the MAF first. As they get dirty, they do not properly read the correct airflow across them and this can cause a lean condition.
