Smile HI! I guess i'm the new gal.

Hello everyone! Some how I stumbled upon this web site, and i'm sure glad I did. I have a 63 Ford Ranchero that I am restoring. The problem is i can't seem to find where the VIN number is. I'm almost sure that it should be on the dash, but it's not. Is there any other place it would be on the car?, That I haven't found yet?

welcome. the vin may be on the door warranty plate (if it has not been removed or changed) the best place to look and get the proper vin for the car though is the driver side inner fender, on top, midway, front to back. it may be painted over, but it IS there. another good place to look for falcon/ranchero info is www.tffn.net over 1800 falcon/ranchero owners there.

Welcome to FTE... We need Ranchero owners! I had a '57 'chero, and of all the cars/trucks I've had, that was my favorite!

If I remember correctly, and I don't think I do, the tag was on the firewall on the passenger side. Just hang in there and someone else will post a reply, right or wrong, just like me!

Look on the firewall drivers side or drivers side door jamb. The one on the firewall maybe painted and the one the drivers should be silver looking, however it may be painted as well.

The "later" Ranchero's, I own a 1968 have numbers stamped under the front fenders on the "ledge" where the fenders bolt on...just in front of the spring towers.

Thank you for the information on the location of the VIN of my 63 ranchero, It's a great place to start. I was going crazy trying to find the darn thing! This is my first time restoring a vehicle, and i'm really excited about the challenge it is about to bestow upon me. You've been great, and I really am grateful for the help. I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress, and thank you for making me feel welcome, and letting me know i'm not alone in this, and that I have a great support system!

Welcome to FTE!!! Need to get some action on the Ranchero Forum. I've got a '67 myself, not exactly a restoration so if you're a purist don't look in my gallery!!! I'm also dealing on a '72, hope to make it mine in the spring. Lots of good folks here with lots of experience.

I sold my '57 years ago and would like to find another. fixer only, I can't afford much more than that. Rancheros are cool. Does anyone know when Ford switched them from Fairlane body style to Falcon?

1960 started the falcon bodied ranchero, and 66 started the larger fairlaine bodied ranchero. not sure for the torino bodied ranchero, but i think it was 69

i think that it was in the early 60's. i know that at the end of the 60's they changed it to the torino boyd style then around 75 they changed it to the ltd body style. good thing about the ranchero is that in the late 70's the body parts and pieces are quite interchangeable with the ltd's and the thunderbirds. i know this cause i own a 79 ranchero 500 and i see the similarities
