4.6 liter 3 Valve Motor

Hi Folks,

I've searched, but can't seem to find and answer to this question:

Is it possible to convert a 4.6 2 valve engine (2003 F150) from 2 valve to 3 valve? Would one use heads from a 4.6 3 valve Mustang, or a 5.4 3 valve F150?

If anyone knows if / how this can be done, or if anyone has tried this, I'd appreciate it if they could reply.

Thanks,
Mike

It can be done, but you would need the intake, PCM and such to make it work properly, The Variable Cam Timing mechanism's are PCM controlled as well as the Drive By Wire throttlebody. Some sort of wiring harness would also be needed due to sensor placement.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Probably best to stick with what I've got.
