Hey, me again. I just redid the whole brake system and everything has been peaches and cream. Until today. I go to back out of Kragen's, and the truck won't move. To make a long story short, I got it home. Now, is it possible (safely) to remove the little adjuster arm from the starwheel and just adjust the brakes manually when they need it? I don't know why, but both wheels on the driver's side keep tighten up a notch every time I back up, until they eventually lock up. If it weren't such a pain in the a%* to pull the drum on/off EVERY OTHER DAY, I wouldn't mind so much. When I pulled the front drum today, that little adjuster arm was just hanging there. I know I put it together right, so I don't know what caused that. So, can you delete the arm, yes or no? TIA Bill

I would think you should either fix the problem with the auto adjusters or remove the parts that do it. Other wise it will continue to tighten and could get to be a safety thing. They might lock up just when you need them most.

Tamwill, Is it possible that you have a set of left hand adjusters installed on the right side? Sounds like the adjusters are doing what they should...automatically adjusting the brake shoes when you back up. I do not advocate removing the adjusters, you will get lazy and neglect to do the adjustment. We all do, thats why the auto adjusters are a good idea.
