2.9 rebuild

what is it you are looking to do with your truck, if you are after a rebuild on the engine and want to make it a little more powerful then check out this site www.moranav6racing.com , and talk with tommy , my brother has used a few of his rebuilds and never had any poblem , tell him you got his name here from big chuck with the tow truck in scarborough , he is a very smart guy when it comes to the ford engines , check his links too , he has some pretty fast v6 cars to his credit. his shop is in scarborough ( east toronto )and does alot over the internet , and purolater/ups

options available

i know how nice it is to have a rebuilder in your home town , or even in close proximity to your home , i only suggested morana racing because i've used their engines , and it does not hurt when you can get your engine delivered by purolator ...

and really kitchener is only an hours drive or so to toronto

see ya when you get here, DEALFORD and I will take you to lunch at WINNERS , eat a small breakfast.

If you don't find what you're looking for locally, I second the Tommy Morana vote.
I've been following his work since the 80's & say that he is one of the better choices for Fords.
Now, if you want to live on the jagged edge, Tommy loves squeezing 460's in all the Fox bodied Fords & would be right at home plunking one in your Ranger. The only question left is...................How fast can you afford to go?

Leave My Ranger Out Of This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's the odds of running across a decent 2.9L in one of your scrappers there Chuck? I doubt even an Aerostar van would be a good doner ???

always remember with a rebuild you know it should last a long while and know its fresh, with a donor more risk of the famous 2.9l probs

good stuff

that really helps when you can take the truck for a ride , and not just take a guys word that it runs real fine , take your check list with you ,

if this is a private sale
CHECK THE KMS ON THE DASH
when you drive it make sure the speedo works
look thru the glove box ,oil change and repair reciepts tell if it was cared for , most all vehicles i get the owners almost always leave these
color and level of oil
check under the rad cap for anything other than anti freeze, white sludge could be the start of a gasket leak
see if the truck had been running before you got there ( warm )
let the guy start the truck , watch the exhaust
write down the v.i.n of the truck it came from ( this may help with ordering parts down the road)
check with the guy as to what comes with the motor , if he is selling the motor because its being parted out , try and keep the motor complete , a wrecking yard motor you will find only comes with block, pan, intake , heads, the flywheel , alt , ac pump , water pump usually come off,as do most electronics
ask but don't make a big issue of it , spare parts are spare parts.

good luck , hope you get a great engine for your truck ,
