My truck is a 1976 F-250 2wd it came with a 460/c6/dana60 with 3:54 gears.Its a Ranger XLT it has the trim down the side and the bottom of the truck,it had alot of chrome on it, the body is pretty fair/good the bed is better than most i see,it also has the toolbox in the side of the bed.I know it came equipped with twintanks which work, a/c and cruise control, I still have the wiring harness for the cruise,but it doesnt have the original column in the truck, It has the sliding rear window and oh the tiedowns on the bed to and tailgate. It came with 16.5 's but it now has 16's ,it has massive brakes in front and rear and I dont know if its stock but in front it has undernearth what looks like a shock mounted horizontally. It now has a 1972 -429 motor, but i replaced the d2 heads with d3's.It is two tone, red/white, with red interior ,it says xlt on the glovebox, its red vinyl the interior is fair.I was wondering if this truck is rare? I have a few things to finish my exhaust, windshield and horn,but is this a pretty common truck?
Sounds like a nice truck, well equiped. I don't think it is rare, except for all the options. Back in the day most trucks were just that, a truck. Not to many people put a lot of options on a work truck. Now days they are for the most part equiped just like the cars.And since it isn't rare I would be glad to take it off your hands so you could go out and find one that is rare, HA! Put some pics in your gallery so we can see it, Erv
yea i want to get some pics it would be nice restored to original but i cant afford a real restoration i figure ill finish up what i can and probably sell it. Id like to see it fully restored would be really sharp.
im not sure i havent seen any others like it which is why i was asking i know its been painted before the paint is faded but the body is really good for its age which is surprising would be nice to see it restored frame up, but i cant afford it.
Take a look at my gallery. Mine is a76 with a 73 grill. I get lots of looks everytime I drive it. Fix yours and keep it. I purchased mine in Arizona 10 years ago for $2500 and I have been offered $10,000 for it
If you search around hard enough you will probally find one or two here and there. I thought the same as mine (75 f350 dually - she is 24 feet long I was told it was an old sun city carrier back in the day). However I have found two near by and have heard of another within 50 miles of me I will be looking at for parts. The ranger xlt package is actually common for the 70's mine has the same package and so do many fords from then.
I have the ecact same truck only mine is green it still has the 460 inside. Do you have the spotlight on the drivers side that does not work. Or the 5 running lights on top of the cab that does not work (lol) Great truck but the wiring leaves alot to be desired. Carter AFB carb and mine is definately a trailer special.
Teagar again;
My truck is also a 76 everything in yours except no sliding back window. I have Dual tanks, side tool box, the original ford stickers are on the valve covers. I bought my truck in oregon about 5 years ago I am the third owner. I only use the truck to pull a fifth wheel because it gets about 8 miles a gallon. I think it needs a valve job which will help this and restore some of its lost power.I have 80k or 180k on the speedometer never know which.I live in California so I need to pass the smog criteria which will be a problem since it has no smog parts except a pcv valve. No rust on mine and very little bondo.
yea but mine dont have lights on top, or a spotlight ,it has overlaod springs in the back that i do know and looks as if it once had dual batteries,but it has nio lights on top, spotlight or extra wiring in the back that ive noticed.
