problem with hub lock reinstall

I have a 1984 Ford F 250 4 wheel drive I recently took apart the stock Ford hub locks on both sides no problem getting them apart, went very smooth. I reinstalled the passenger side with ease no problems. However on the drivers side the hub lock will not fully seat it will only go about half way in ive looked at the splines in the hub and axelshaft and can see no apparent problem. Wheel bearings are tight no end play any ideas as to what im doing wrong?seems not to be properly centered or something?

you might try rotating the shaft, or locking and unlocking the hub, all else fails, use the BFH

Smile Boy do i feel like a dummy

well i solved my problem i took the entire hub lock completely apart and forgot to install the shims under the axel gear it bound and wouldnt move enough to center should have known better by the extra parts in the box.... had to take it apart again when they say a light coat of grease they mean a light coat put too much grease and they didnt work too well ..... was almost to the BFH....
