I have noticed that there is a popping sound that seems to be comming front the front end. It only pops when im accelerating, mostly from a stop.
I bought it a few months ago and noticed that the drivers side sway bar link is new and the passenger side is still in tact. What should I look for/ test to diagnose this?
Thanks
I did a search, but came to the realization that the search feature on this site is all but worthless when searching for more than one word.
I wonder if you're describing the same thing that I hear on my '04 EB every once in awhile. Seems to be coming from the front left suspension. A fairly loud knock or metal pop/bang would be the only way I can describe it. It only happens ever couple weeks so not sure what to make of it.
did some poking around under the truck. I noticed that both nuts that hold the transmission mount to the cross member are loose. I sprayed some pb blaster on them and will tighten them when it stops raining out.
Hmmm, i'm going to go crawl under there and see if I find anything. Were they less than finger tight or just need cranked down some?
They are loose by 3 or so threads, I could see a nice size gap between the top of the nut and the crossmember. They obviously have been like this for awhile since they are nearly siezed into place by rust.
Check my post out here, you'll see those bolts rust bad and evenutally fail. I'd suggest replacing both links as an assembly, with an aftermarket version. You won't believe how much it will help the handling. Hope this helps: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...light=vze2sgxa
Finally got tht nuts tightened up. I had to use a 2' breaker bar to remove them since there was a lot of corrosion. Once I got them off I wire brushed the nuts and bolts and tightened them up. Took a 5 mile test drive and the popping noise is gone.
