My 1991 Ford F150 4X4's tranny/transfer went out. I have the 351W and E4OD. It's going to be a desert truck so I don't really need the OD, so I wanted to go with a C6/transfer combo from an older F150. Which year would fit and would the drivelines bolt on as well? Since the E4OD is electronic and the C6 isn't, would I have any issues? I've heard yes and no. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
A C6 will bolt to your tcase with the right adaptor, or an early 80s F150 with a 351w will have a C6 that will bolt to your engine, and the tcase will most likely be a np 208. it should be a bolt in. and the C6 won't have a problem since it doesn't need the electronics to shift going the other way would be an issue cause you would have to come up with a controler.
Oh if only I could buld a strong enough truck to tow a 747 then I would know it's the toughest thing around.
Not to rain on your parade or anything but GM did in 70's and made a TV commercail about it using a stock K20 with a 400SB, automatic, 4.10 gears and fulltime 4wd. (it is in the book of world records too) Ford used same Tcase for a while in their trucks and could maybe have done the same if they had thought of it first.
yes i have seen that. but also understand that 747 planes are moved into posistion everyday with airport tractors and guess what, most are powered by the 300 six c-6 combo.sure it is very slow

I worked in R&D on militray aircraft for many years and they used a few different yokes to do it and the newest ones (as of mid 90's) had a 120HP Cummins 5.9 in them with all wheel drive and they weighed about 30 tons with a low range for towing and hi range for transport up to about 30 mph. They also had some old dodge powered ones from 70's that looked like modified 4x4 tractors with 318's in them and a top speed of about 15 mph all wound out.

Gee don't you maybe think that sig is in response to your making that brag in another thread?, and don't you remember later in that thread someone making the point that a group of midgets also pulled a 747 BY HAND. In other words SO WHAT.
Here maybe this will jog your memory. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=442000
And if reading doesn't do it for you maybe a visual picture will help
