I'm interested in programmer but want to stay otherwise stock. I have some questions:
1. Will a programmer damage my truck if it is stock? I'm told that I'll be OK in the lowest hp/torque mode.
2. If I restore stock program, can the dealership still tell that I've been running a non-stock program?
3. Can one even notice a significant gain with the lowest hp/torque mode?
This is my first PSD, and I'm totally ignorant when it comes to programmers. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
It'll feel like you have 2 motors in there. Won't hurt anything unless you use the hi HP and tow something heavy. Also lotsa guy's get gauges to see all the temps EGT's and such. If you restore it you should be ok but I don't know for sure.
I wouldn't go with an extreme tuner. I waited until my warranty ran out on my 01 7.3 then I put a Hypetech Power Programmer III in it. I didn't have any gauges for about 60,000 miles but it was a mild tune about 60HP. Now I have the 100 Hp tuner on it! makes a huge diff. on the 7.3. I don't know about the 6.0s even though I have 2 of them after the warranty runs out i may put a mile tuner on them. They don't need a lot, just getting rid of the turbo lag would be good enough!
