Will the Bronco ever come back?

About a year ago I came across the Ford concept Bronco in a magazine, I don't remember which one. Ford's plan, they said, was to get back to the original roots of the Bronco. The concept looked like the original 60's-70's little Bronco crossed with a Hummer; it actually looked pretty good for a concept truck. It had full-sized rearends (8.8 and Dana 44 I believe) and the concept had a 4 cylinder turbo diesel that got almost 30 mpg, according to Ford. Supposedly they were going to introduce around 06-07 but I haven't heard anything since that article. Did Ford build me up just to crush my hopes and dreams or is this little truck still floating around the design studio at Ford somewhere?

I highly doubt that it makes it as the Bronco that you and I know. Most likely another soccer mom, make believe, 4x4 carrying the Bronco badge. The old Broncos were a piece of machinery. Todays 4x4s are a joke by comparison and yes, you can add the f-250 4x4 to that as well. I pull them out of mud when it rains all the time with my Bronco. If you haven't noticed, the mandate set out by Bill Ford is doing quite well. Cut content. That means put less into the product but get the same dollars or more for it. A REAL Bronco- I think not.

A new bronco would be ****, but I would be disappointed if they brang it back and it was, like someone already said, a soccer mom 4x4 carrying the bronco badge. If they brought it back i would want it to be as good or better offroad than the originals.

You guys don't get the "real" Land Rovers do you?
You can say what you like about thier reliability (I haven't found them too bad personally). But they destroy pretty much everything off-road (Bronco included).

You do worry me sometimes - a BII the best commuter you ever had?
That makes my Mini the best long distance cruiser out there...
I do use it as a cruiser actually, 90mph=6200rpm

It wont happen. Two door trucks of any kind are dead in the US market (a shame). High gas prices have slowed the sales of all full-size SUV's down to almost nothing. I'm sure you can get an excellent deal on an Expy, and that is very close anyway, except for too many doors. I hope Toyota does bring out its "retro" FJ concept based on the old Land Cruiser, but I dont think Ford will follow with a Bronco.

Bring back the Bronco, or at least a v8 powered 2DOOR Exployer.

I don't know, flash. My expedition is pretty capable. I'm not gonna use it for rock crawling or anything, but for our frigid, snow drifted Iowa countryside it is 250% better than a Bronco ever could be. The Expie has a ton more power than the bronco, rides better, and is just plain NICER. Maybe not as much carachter as a bronco, but definitely a more modern and better vehicle. And it was -7 degrees this morning when I went out to start the Expie. And it started right up. No WAY would anything with a carburator just have roared to life like that. I would like Ford to bring back the bronco, but in a more refined way. IFS, shift on the fly/pushbutton 4wd, heated leather seats, the good stuff. If I want to freeze my *** off on the way to work I'll drive my pickup. I usually do anyway.

IMO if ford uses IFS, and all of that luxury crap, it chouldn't be called a bronco. Maybe thay could use a TTB setup up front, but I'd be happy with solid axle front and rear and coil springs (i'd like to have leafs, but that isn't going to happen).

i would love to see a revised TTB on it, that would own. bring back the old "aftermarket products = huge suspension travel" days.

The concept looked good, and had a great engine with the diesel, but it had the exact same drive system the escape has, which is pathetic. I mean, for a Bronco, Ford can do better then that.
