Motor Trend Truck of the Year

Motor Trend Truck of the Year
The Honda Ridgeline has been voted Motor Trends Truck of the Year. I don't get it, nobody is buying it and I've read that it is underpowered and is just an Avalanche wannabe, yet it gets that award. Something tells me it got this award to boost sales and help Honda. Two Dodge Ram truck versions and the Lincoln Mark LT plus, two smaller trucks were all nominated but, again, a Japanese truck wins the award. Now I buy only American and only Ford but, I do think some Japanese trucks have some nice designs. The Ridgeline though, I see nothing redeeming about it's design. Of course. I feel the same about the Chevy Avalanche.

I really haven't studied the Ridgeline that closely... there's not a lot about it that appeals to me, but I do know it has a really cool compartment in the bed floor and I love that

Let me "road test" that riceball for a week, bet ya it'll be broken. Try to carry a full dresser Harley in that lunchbox bed. America is going down the drain, look how people think. JMO's.

Thdir vehicles of the year have always tended to be something that is different and you gotta admit the Ridgeline is different. Their selections have been some home runs and some strikeouts. Keep in mind that this is the magazine that voted the AMC Pacer, Renault Alliance and Chevrolet Vega as car of the year.

Just wait until you have something, say your new big screen in the back, and you need to change a tire. OK, you can unload that $3,000 on the side of the interstate (hopefully, you have someone riding along to help) while you get to the spare, conveniently located in that cool under floor storage bin. The location of the spare tells you how much they anticipate the vehicle being used as a truck - essentially none. That does of course eliminate the need for the FRAME that they have neglected to include as well. Underpowered, ugly POS designed by people whose only experience with a truck is looking at that thing in their rear view mirror with a big grill.

I think it's a pretty good looking rig from the front up until you get to the rear doors, then it looks like a bunch of different people designed it.
It is a bummer they put the spare in the "trunk", but I sure love that trunk.

One year when the Chevy was "redesigned" and it was voted Motor Trend's Truck of the Year I was readig it and they compared a Chevy regular cab 1/2ton 4wd shortbed, a Ford F-250 Supercab with a 7.3 and 4wd and a comparable Dodge 3/4 ton Cummins 4wd Supercab. The Chevy was voted best ride, easiest to manuever and handle and so on. DUH! If you comapred the Honda whatever to a 3.4 ton you'd find alot of things "nicer" and more "convenient" about it.
I pay about as much attention to Motor Trend, JD power and whatever else's vehicle awards as I do to the daily agenda of Hillary Clinton!
