I know this is probably a stupid question, but where is GPR located on a 2000 powerstroke and what does it look like? Also, I was reading some old threads that mention oil viscosity could cause hard starting. I use Rotella 15-40. Is there a better oil for winter time?

I'm in the same boat. Seems as if my GPR is bad and need to troubleshoot it. Any suggestions? Found Ford wants $101.74 for a new one, since it's under warranty may as well let them change it for the $100.00 deductible.

Your glow plug relay is behind your fuel filter and a little bit towards the passenger's side. There are 2 relays there, the tall one in front is the AIH, the shorter one in back is the GPR. That is unless you have an excursion or a California emissions engine, then you have a glow plug controller.
Rotella T 5-40 (synthetic) will help with cold starts.
