Also known as the "Grand Expedition." F-150-based SUV, longer than the Expedition, and it MIGHT come with a diesel option. But Ford is keeping real tight-lipped about that.

Thanks for posting those links. She aint pretty, that's for sure, but I'll bet it'll fill a usefull niche. A small diesel would be a great option in this truck, I wonder if ford will have one ready for it.

That may be called an "Everest," but it's about half the size of the vehicle we're talking about. Ford sells a "Falcon" in Australia, but it has nothing in common with the '60s econobox we all know and love on this side of the Pacific.

i guess you would know better than most. i do find it very odd that ford would have 2 SUV,s with the same description (7 passenger family suv) same name, current model years (not 40 years apart) and have completely different vehicles for the US/Canada and the rest of the world, however the everest in the links i posted are about the same size as the current expy and another article i read said the "new" everest is a foot or so longer than the expy...dono

The last site lists a 2.5L turbo diesel for it. Now they're talking.

The Thailand Everest is based upon the Mazda designed Ford Ranger (NOT the Ranger you guys see). It is similar in size to an Explorer (slightly longer and taller but it is narrower). Power only comes from a 2.5l Turbo Diesel (which is rather underpowered for American requirements) - A 3.0l Common Rail diesel will be fitted to it next year.

As for two vehicles being called the Everest - there are currently 3 completely different variations of the Ranger in the world.
The North American Ranger - sold in the US and Canada, built and designed by Ford.
The South American Ranger - sold in South America, build and designed by Ford (based off the NA version).
The Ranger in the rest of the world - sold everywhere else, built by a joint operation of Ford and Mazda, and designed completely by Mazda.

I heard that there was going to be a stretched version of the Expy called the Expedition Max to replace the Excursion.

My personal opinion: It's terrible. Looks like an Isuzu.

Why can't anyone read? That version of the Everest isn't what's going into production.
