I will be going overseas for about 9 months and they won't let me take my truck My wife seldom drives my truck but will if needed. Is there anything I should/can do to basically store it while I am gone? I doubt my wife would use a full tank while I am gon and I live in fear of her filling it up with "Gas" .
Not sure but if it were me, change the oil and filter, fill it up with fresh fuel with maybe some dieselclean and ask her to drive it once in a while. Be careful and good luck.
if you know for sure she isn't going to drive it. I would put it up on blocks to get weight off tires so you won't have a flat spot (thumping) when you get back. Yes change the oil and check into either putting a charger on a timer so they charge the battery once a week for a few hrs (easy) or take the batteries out of truck or just disconnect them. Don't want you to have flat batteries when you get home.
i used to have the same situation (off and on for 5 years) when i went out to sea for a few months, the BEST thing to do is have someone warm it up and drive it around the block, get evrything up to normal op temps, then park it again, its good to do it at least once every week or 2 weeks, thats the best thing to do. but if that is not possible, yea, the other guys explained it perfectly.
If it sits outside uncovered plug in a solar battery charger to the cigarrette/power plug....Work for me with a car that sits 48 weeks a year then needed for a few weeks....Also great for the race ccar trailer winch battery.....Good Luck
Storing your truck for 6 months or so is not difficult. Before 6 to 9 month deployments I used to do an oil change, fill the fuel tank and disconnect the battery.
After returning from deployment, connect and recharge the battery, start the truck and learn how to drive again.
