I think I have one last build in me and it has to be a Ford truck. The first of many questions in the future, is there a maker of an after market cab and doors for any F1 or F-100? I found the beds and will make my own frame but haven't found any links except for fenders and such. TIA
Bebops makes a fiberglass cab. I think it's the 56 big window. Fairlane and I think at least one other company make fiberglass one piece front ends..and as I'm sure you're already aware - fenders are available in steel or glass - with the rear ones stock width or plus 3 inches.
Either Classic Truck or Custom Classic Trucks is doing a series in their magazine right now on building an F100 completely from aftermarket parts - from the frame all the way up.
Welcome to the forum Wayne. We have a good crew here that will do their best to answer your questions. Fergy gave you the low-down on the aftermarket body parts - have you considered a used cab, etc.? Some of the used sheet metal, especially in the south/southwest is in remarkably good shape.
Hey Wayne, If you want any fiberglass stuff buy off of Wescott or Early Ford. Don't buy off of Fairlane- there fiderglass stuff is junk. (It's to thin!!!!) A friend of mine bought some fenders from them. BIG MISTAKE!! Wescott will cost you alittle more but there fiberglass is good and thick. My dad bought from Early Ford and there fenders are nice and thick to. Just save your money and don't buy from Fairlane.

The reason I thought about the glass cab was that I live in the salt / rust belt. If I used a good steel cab then I would have to get it at least 30' away from the street for 4 months a year. I'm also tight for room to store a parts truck or cab. Thats another reason I want to build the frame in my well equipped but small shop and get the cab and bed last. Now that I know a cab is available the frame will be the first thing to get started on. My background includes being a certified tig welder for over 30 years and have built a few motorcycle frames, but I will need a stock frame drawing for the cab, bed, mounting locations etc. I will go with a Jag IFS and do a Ford 9" rear. I'm retired now so I work slow due to the fixed income factor, so the build from scratch works for me. The car below took me 4 years but I always finish what I start, just slowly.
welcome Wayne64-
I believe the dimensional info on the frame is in the Shop Manual. You can get one from Motor Haven here on FTE or from other sources. We look forward to seeing your work as it progresses so start a gallery and add photos as you go.
