How do I unlock a stuck door lock mechanism?

THe F250 top locking bar has been pushed down which won't allow the door to be shut. How can I move this "c" shaped metal piece up to allow the door to shut? This metal piece is the piece that would hold the door shut normally.
THank you for any advice-
Windy

lift up on the outside door handle and at the same time , with your finger or a screw driver, lever the 'c' shaped piece outward and up ,bob
