Superchips 1715 on V10 Q's

Got mine tonight and programmed it. How many programming options is it supposed to have? I thought it allowed for 87 and 91 octane programming. Yeah, I can make adjustments for the shift points and shift pressure, but that is it. I was pretty disappointed that it didn't give me the option to adjust for gearing and tire size to fix the speedo.

Is this all you get with the 1715? I expected more.

I talked to Superchips and was told that neither the V10, nor the diesels are tuned for speedo or tire size reprogramming. Only the 5.4 is setup for that. Also, I was told that Superchips charges $75+shipping to reprogram any of their tuners. So, I may be SOL on this tuner. I have to call them back when I get home with the serial number on the tuner to find out if it has the updated program on it or not.

Anyway, does anyone have a 00-04 Excursion that they were able to program for tires and speedo?

You should be able to adjust the octane on it. None of the tuners support speedo recal with the V10, because of the way the speedo is picked up by the computer. You'll need to have a dealer do it, or get a Superlift TruSpeed.

My tuner only allowed for one tuning option. Otherwise it was a custom option that I have to tune myself, which I plan to do before driving home tonight simply to adjust for a firmer shift.

I programmed my truck with the 1715. Basically it "should" allow you to pick 1 of 3 programs. 87, Tow, or Performance. Tow and Performance requires 91 octane. On the 99-2004 V10 Fords, they cannot be corrected for tire size or gear ratio by the 1715 do to the type of speedo they have (dial type). Superchips told me only the digital speedos can be corrected (guess the 5.4 trucks have that). Anyhow, I was able to select the "tow" program, change my trans. shift points for every gear change, raise the rev. limiter, and changed the shift firmness. The on screen instructions are pretty easy to follow. If you do not have the option to change to more than one program, something is wrong with your programmer I think.

hmmmmmm, you might want to un-install the program and go back to stock, and start over again. The book that comes with the unit tells you step by step how to choose each setting.
