Judging from the clunk when I go out of park and from first to second, I think it is time for universal replacement. I have done this job before but not on the Aero. Anybody got any tips or pointers? Thanks.
Tony
If you can handle the downtime, it would be a good opportunity to get the driveshaft balance checked. The shop can install the U-joints too if you want.
Aero driveshafts are aluminum so you need a drive shop that works with them 'cause the only way to add weights is to weld or glue them on. Welding aluminum is a specialty.
A unbalanced driveshaft can cause vibrations while driving.
center punch mark the driveline to pinion end alignment...can get 180d off from original
i would have a shop with dynamic balancing dl equipment put the new u joints in....so critical for long life of u joint, auto tranny rear and pinion bearings...if not...be sure to seat cups against ring locks by rubber mallet wack on cup mount rings
