3.8/3.8SC Cylinder Head difference?

My father has a 91 Cougar with 3.8 V-6. It has either blown a head gasket or cracked a head last summer as it locked up when starting it from water in a cylinder and I'm just getting to it. I just bought a set of heads from a 90 T-Bird with the 3.8 SC engine. They are marked with the Ford code of RF-E9SE, 6090-D7A, and Essex. They are stamped with the letters SC on the top corners. Any difference in the valve size, combustion chamber, or intake/exhust ports between the heads from his 3.8 and this 3.8 Supercharged engine? Since all I have is Bronco's and F bodies I'm used to V-8's, where is the commom place for these 3.8 heads to crack?

Hell, you can even use the M90 supercharger because it's an early 3.8
It's fuel injected, right? So, you should be able to use the entire topend from the 3.8SC.
They probably flow better than normal heads, and might have lower compression. Other than that, they are completely plug and play.

I don't really know where they crack, but check out 3.8mustang.com and you'll find a lot of info on their forums. They don't really tend to crack often, from what I've seen, since you can run like 12psi of boost on the darn things with a stock top and bottom end.

Goodluck.

I wish I had the supercharger etc. but all I bought were the heads. I was just wondering if I would see any performance difference between the stock 3.8 heads and these. I figured they may be a little lower compression but I didn't know if there was any difference in the valve size or flow.

I think there's a club or something, like TCOAA or something that specializes in it.

It probably does flow better and consequently will perform better, in all likelyhood. By the way, you can score the SC And all that off ebay for a few hundred quid.

If it was for me I'd look for the supercharger to put on it. My father at 76 is too old to worry about if it will burn the tires or not. Although in his day with the Chevy small blocks he would smoke the tires in a minute. I stick with the V-8's myself.
