Ok they are just a small freeze plug..... 9/16" dia x 1/4" lenght. napa part number 55008. I knew I had a few here. Should be a pretty easy fix. Just be sure the lip of the plug is at least 1/4" inside the shaft so you can clear the cotter pin hole. You'll see much better results also.
I have this number for napa online also CEP-2192098. Between both you should be able to find them. Yea I've been there before with those plugs myself! I've made an everlasting mental note of it since...LOL.
oh man i feel soooooooooooo dumb. yes i have 75 psi cold start up and 15 to 20 psi hot idle. i always wondered how these stupid rockers got oiled. i figured it was from the oil flowing thru the shafts , i guess it should be going thru those tiny holes in the shaft.
I have exactly the same issue with mine and it has been driving me nutz trying to figure out the fix , so dont feel alone , bob
Dont feel too bad, that's the way the Y-blocks run 'em. You know, I almost didn't say anything. I'm glad I did now! Yeah, get them things plugged up and your problem will be solved.
the plugs i ordered. will take 1 week to get them. i ordered extras for any future rebuilds. i looked at the exploded diagram of the rocker shafts and they show no plug. but i guess being a chiltons manual its not super accurate. i am glad the people here know what they are doing.
