ok so i have an 86 ranger with the old 2.0 1bbl carb that i recently blew something on..instead of trying to figure it out and fix it i was thinking of dropping a 2.3 turbo out of a tbird...this should bolt up to my tranny no? i understand i would have to get the ecu and wire harness for the motor as well, but also would i be able to put a bigger turbo on a 2.3 turbo with minimal adjustments?

I just helped a guy do a swap on a 93 ranger. We put an 88 T/C motor in it. You can but a larger turbo on them. You should upgrade the injectors when you do this. When you put larger injectors in the old T/C systems you will need a wideband 02 sensor and the spring in the VAM needs tweaked till you get the right a/f ratio.

Yea I am using the stock block and the stock 5spd tranny. Holds up very well to the HP I think it will be ok up till 450HP.
how do you install a bypass valve on a turbo ranger?
I am using a RFL BOV I put it real close to the TB after the intercooler. I checked with a wide band o2 sensor and I don't have a prob with it going ritch when it opens. They only open for a short time, I was going to use a bypass valve but after the BOV worked ok with no probs I am going to stay with it.

The RFL is very loud, right now when it opens after boosting 25psi you can hear it very well a 1/4 mi away.

Here are some videos I got last sat 5/13/06 at a ranger meet in OH.

They are at the botom on the right of this link. http://www.rangersrevenge.com/ab_003.htm

You may want a wide band 02 sensor. Yea you could probably get by with that. Would not be a bad idea to have a sct dealer tune it in with a dyno some time. I use the compleat pro racer pack with the xcal 2 it gives me a lot more options in tuning.

ok so i found me an 88 turbo coupe and got the 2.3 tubro motor with the wire harness...ecu...and the whole dash out of the car...the guy said something about the injector wires in the dash?but i dont think he knows...he just didnt wanna pull the wires out so he gave me the whole dash....i need to get a fan and an inline fuel pump to swap out my 2.0 1bbl carb motor in my ranger...are there any wires in the dash i should need or can i just splice the new harness into my current one so the ignition and lights work and then just plug in the computer and be done?

The stock injectors will work with the larger turbo. The T3/T4 upgrade is common. 400 hp has been made with the stockers, but two pumps were used to raise the pressure. jd
