King Pin diameter, 52' F-3

I'm looking to replace the kingpins on my 52 F-3 front end. I know I'll need to ream the bushings when I install them. I have a lead on 2 differant adjustable reamers (differant size range), just wanna make sure I get the right one. Anyone happen to know the diameter (decimal) of kingpin off hand?

I am not sure of the dia. My guess would be in the 1 1/4 in. range. I know most manuals say to ream the kingpin bushing to size - however it is more of a practice to hone the bushings to fit the kingpins on a Sunnen hone. If the reamers are for sale at a good price you may want to consider picking them up anyway - you may never know when you might need them. I would suggest that you check the sharpness of the reamers before buying - using a dull reamer is no fun and may spoil your bushings. Just my tthoughts.

Jon, The shop manual indicates the Spindle Bolt min OD is 0.812 inch and the bushing is max ID of 0.81325 inch for an F-1 through F-3 ('48 - '52). The rest of the truck lines are larger. Hope this helps.

So F-3 kingpins are the same size as F-1 kingpins? That is the same size mine are. I also used an adjustable reamer on one (I used a kingpin reamer on the other).

yup. F-1 to F-3 use the same front axle/spindles

What I'm looking at is an adjustable king pin reamer

Cool, thanks irondragon.

That's what I used on mine. I took my time getting to the right size, didn't want to over bore it. Good luck.

I used a fixed 13/16" reamer and got a good close fit.
