59 F100 Info
Hello - I'm new to your forum, but suspect it will be a lot of help to me. I just got a 1959 F100 4x4, and plan to make a few basic improvements, along with cleaning it up. My main project is a '69 Mustang convertible, so my funds for the truck will be fairly limited at first. Mostly I just want to drive and enjoy it.
The first thing I want to do is convert the braking system to disk front and a dual power master. Can anyone recommend a good source of information on this conversion? I'd like to go the salvage yard route on as much of it as possible.
Thanks in advance for this probably many more questions I'll have!

59,
Welcome to the board!! You have definately found the place to get your questions answered. There are tons of folks here who are ready willing and able to share what they know while teasing you unmercilessly (good natured of course).
How about getting some pics of your truck and setting up a gallery so that we can check it out, we just love to see what the other guy has.
There are several companies that make disc brake adapters for the 2wd trucks, I'm not sure about the 4wd. You might contact MP Brakes, or ECI

I'm not sure what style front axle they used in 1959, perhaps one of the 4x4 wizards here will be able to tell you if late model disc brake hubs will fit.
Its good to have you on the board

Thanks for the welcomes! Here's a link to a few pics in the gallery:

I have all the trim/chrome, but he had it all off and in a box. My first task is to upgrade the braking system - any easy swaps (or hard ones for that matter) to put disks on a close knuckle Dana, or is it easier to start over with a different front end?

Wow, thanks for getting the pics so fast! Thats a great looking truck! Those years sure look tough as a 4x4.
Again, I can't help you much with the brake question, I don't know much about what will work on the front differential.
In high school my brother and I converted a 1960 big window F-100 short wide bed to a 4x4 by swapping in the suspension from a 75 F-150 4x4 that my brother had wrecked.
Thanks again for the pics
