I have been looking for a good used F-250 . I have found a 96 F-250 Supercab with shortbed XLT 4x4 with the 7.3 PSD. I don't recall seeing a 250 like this before. Most around here a Crew cabs with shortbeds or supercabs with longbed. Are these rare ?
Rare enough here that the first time I saw one I figured it must've been a custom job. I think I've maybe seen one or two others since, but that's definitely not a combination you see very often around here.
I was in the market for a longbed supercab PS diesel a while ago (didn't end up getting one) and all I could find were shortbeds. I looked at 10 supercab F-250 PS trucks, and probably 7 of them were shortbeds.
i do believe that ford came out with that combo in 96, there is one running around my area that i know of, nice looking ride i think that they built for thae transion period to the superduty that came out in 98
the one mentioned above is the only one i have seen.
They seem relatively common around here in PA. Supercab Short Bed is a pretty good all around combo. My "take" on it as that when FORD launched the 97 F150 they realized they were going to have a load of the old body shortbeds left (or at least the manufacturing capacity) so they configured the 250 chassis to accept them until they launched the Super Duty series.
Check ebay. I'm on there everyday just looking at trucks and I see quite a few. You can even find the F2504x4 crew cab shortbeds. Around here, the F250 supercab shortbeds are fairly common.
I own a 97 F250HD (old body style) that is supercab shortbed. It has the gas 7.5L. It is my understanding that they only made these in 96 and 97 possibly to use left over parts the had for the F150. Not very common around here.
i do know that ford only made the supercab short bed 250 for only 2 years, what i am not sure of is if it is 95-96 or 96-97, i talked to a guy that owned one out in cali. and thats the info he gave me. his was a PSD.
According to KBB, 1996 and 1997 were the only years you could get a shortbed in an F-250. These were also the only years you could get a crewcab in an F-250.
If that's the case... then so much for my dream of for sure having "the longest pickup in town". When I was younger (13-16) I always wanted to find an older F-250 crew/long box/4x4. Didn't really care then what it had for a drivetrain. But if I can only find that in "newer" models, i guess I should just appreciate my supercab/long box F-150 more. Maybe when I start to make a lot of money, I can buy an older F-350 like the one fredric has. Get that with 4x4... What a beauty!
