It all started today when I saw about a 1983 f150 shortbed with about a 1996 f150 shortbed on it.I tried to get pics but my camera sucks in the sunlight.Is there such a swap for my 78?

Ask this in the galleries for both those years of trucks. Some one has bound to have done it or heard of it. Then you could find the year bed you want in the wrecking yard and measure the frame width of that truck and your truck. If they are the same then just go for it
