Question Front bucket seats to bench?

My front seats are shot (really saggy springs) and need replacing. Is it possible to swap them out for a front bench seat? Mine's an 81 with floor shifters. I can live without having a center console.

Speaking of seats, does the back bench seat fold -back- to lay flat (like for sleeping) or just forward (like when you're going to remove it) ? Mine doesn't seem to, but thought I would ask. Thanks.

The back seat doesn't fold flat, sorry.
You can take out your front bucket seats and brackets and get a bench seat from a Bronco from 78-86 for sure, and I'm not 100% sure about new seats, but get the bracket the bench seat is on and swap over, everything should work.

My 79 had a front bench when I bought it. The floorpan already had the mounting holes for it and the buckets I put in it. If I remember correctly the bench seat used the same outer holes, so you should be able to just swap the outer brackets off your buckets onto the bench and it'll bolt right in.

Carrying passengers in the back seat is a real PITA with a front bench.....there's no easy way to get back there. That's why I swapped to the buckets in the first place.

My 85 had a manual and a bench seat.
I liked it could fit me and the two kids in front.

Thanks for the tips, y'all. Scott, it's just me and the hubby (and he rarely rides in my truck) so passenger hauling is almost a non-issue. Mostly I haul home groceries, go camping occasionally, and haul home yard sale finds. I'm not real happy with how the passenger seat leans forward to get in and out of the back of the truck anyway.. though I think if I put some steps on the sides of the truck, that would help a lot. I'm nearly 5'10" and it's still a long way to the ground from inside there.

Ah...well the bench seat would be perfect for your uses then. Plenty of room for groceries and sleeping bags. I usually fly solo in my Bronco as well...in fact, I removed the back seat. More "stuff" room that way.
