wonky temp gauge

I've noticed on my '97 Explorer it doesnt get passed the logo on the gauge. When your driving it will get up to just before the logo and then it will drop down to the line above Cold, then go up again. I thought there was an air bubble so I tried burping the system but there was no air...any thoughts??? After a while it will stay just under the logo, but I thought it should go to at least half on the gauge?

2 most common causes.....thermostat or sending unit.

Apparently the t-stat was just done. I just bought it so, who knows. Great timing, it's starting to get freakin cold out

If the t-stat is good and it's just the sending unit, it's no big deal. They're not that $$ to replace, even if you have the dealer do it.
