89' Bronco windsheild wipers, stop & go ?
Getting the bugs out of this Bronco,,worst bug was battery kept going dead finaly found it was the EEC-relay stuck closed,,ahh battery stays charged now, starts all the time,,
Vacum canister rotted,, big hole in it
Next Bug,,,with the wipers on they work fine for like 10 to 15 seconds (sometimes) then they start on off, start stop, jittery like,,then they will work fine for a while,,,any ideas ?
I messed with the ground cable, did,nt seem to make a difference ??
Thanks,,,,,,,,,,Mark

Sounds like a bad winding in the motor armature or (and this happens more frequently than you might think) one of the armature magnets has come loose from the inside of the motor casing causing the armature to drag on it. Either way, the simplest fix is to replace the motor unless you are handy with electric motors and know your way around them well enough to rebuild them.
The reason the wipers work fine for the first few seconds is that when the motor is off and cold, the magnet is cold so there is enough clearance for the armature. as the motor heats up the loose magnet drags on the armature causing it to stall. I have chased this problem down in a Bronco, a Ranger, and two F-150's.
