Question Broken Vacuum line Location

I pulled drivers side valve cover off for new gasket. 1988 BII with 2.9 and I was to aggresive, I suppose and broke a very, very small vacuum hose , at the rear of the cover near the top of the manifold and I can't see where to reconnect it. I mean about the size of pencil lead. All I have is the Haynes and I could not find any help. Thanks in advance.

I don't recall a line that small on my 1989 2.9L, could it be a wire?

Anyone with 88 have a line like this?

It appears the line is snapped off , because of the hard plastic broken in the curve of it. It is only about 3 " long and appears to run back up toward the fuel rail. The other end is connected into a box with two larger cables coming out of it and this line is connected there. All of this is in the vincinity of the disributor cap, truck is running fine with no leaks, but i would like to find where to repair. Thanks.

My '87 uses a small plastic vacuum line to supply vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator, could that be it? My '87 used to have a lot of that small polyethylene (or whatever plastic they used) vacuum tubing that got brittle and crumbled. Most of it (except that line to the FPR) I've replaced with regular vacuum/pressure tubing.

I am still searching for the end that is broken, I know it is right under my nose, but I continue to overlook it, I will look closer at the vacuum for fuel regulator. A good days rest would help me find it, I sure, Thanks for all the leads.

Went out and looked at my '87. There isn't a lot operated by engine vacuum:

1) Cruise control
2) Brake booster
3) FPR
4) EGR system (I don't think '88's had an EGR system)
5) MAP sensor.
6) The little air intake valve upstream of the air filter that (tries) to regulate intake air temperature.

Not sure what all would be different on the '88, but basically just check off which ones are hooked up. by process of elimination, you should be able to figure out what the broken line goes to.
