Do you have an aftermarket tach ? If you do check and make sure it's set on the V8 setting and not on the 4 or 6 cyl. setting . Does the engine sound like it is turning those kind of rev's?
I'm just wondering, since you replaced your tranny fluid filter is something didn't get put back together right and your somehow getting a restrictive amount of fluid or something. I really don't know. It's somewhat of a strange situation you have, someone here probably knows, they just haven't read your post yet. Have you checked to make sure you don't have a kinked fluid line going to your cooler, perhaps there is a blockage....? Fluid level? I'm just throwing out a bunch of things out there that I would check before I got to carried away. If it worked when you took your engine out, something happened somewhere along the line when you put it back together.
