Repairing tailgate with bent corners but rust free
OK here I go again. Today i found a rust free shell tailgate but it has a few dents on it. But the dents are on the corners of the tailgate and a few dents in the middle but not to bad. . I got it for 40 bucks so i cant complain because i know what these babies cost. Now heres my question. The corners are really bent in pretty good,i know i have to bend them straight or at least close to straight. Anybody know how to bend them without to much damage?. Also can i swap the parts and window from the old to the new tailgate? I got a price from a local Ford dealership and they wanted 600 bucks whao. I rather try and do it myself.

If you don't need the tailgate to be perfect, you can try using a 12"Crescent wrench. Use it like a pair of pliers, and close it down on either side of the metal. A long cheater pipe over the wrench will give you more leverage. I used this method the other day to bend some 1/4" plates in a vise. You might be able to knock out the other dents from the inside, if you can reach them. And all of the parts will swap from 83-96 Bronco tailgates. Just watch that window regulator when you unbolt the motor, the heavy glass puts it under alot of pressure.
