I have my ATS turbo with 3" exhaust, installed my boost and pyro gauges, also turned up the fuel just over a 1/4 turn.
I get about 7-8 lbs boost under load and 825 degrees max, no black smoke coming outta the exhaust. Can or should I turn the fuel up more, til I see black smoke and turn it back a bit?
Turbo's are way cool.
First check your timming (8 - 8.5) Then mess with the fuel. You only want black smoke on hard accel. Remember that things (pistons) start to melt at 1250.
The thermocouple is after the turbo, when I rebuild my top end in the Spring I plan on putting it in the manifold while it is out.
Seeing 850 is probably as high as I want to go. I've got to drop it off and get it timed. The pump is fairly new, but the guy I bought it from just put it on and eyeballed the marks. It just ran better at that adjustment than it does now.
well i have a non turboed 7.3 and i can throw a good 6in flame out the stack on a hard run and LOTS of smoke i did timing and fueling which would help ur boost remember no more then about 13psi so u could get a little more and prbably w/o much gain on egts if any they say 1250 is where it melts but i think its a little hotter then that
