I've finaly figured out my design, it actually works. no hitting the fender and nice smooth action. It only took me four attempts, But I sure learned alot along the way.
Here is a link to the pics if you care to look.

very cool, do the hinges bolt to the hood or are they to be welded? How do you adjust the hood side to side? There's nothing like building your own stuff!!
The Hinges are welded to the hood. Side to side adjustment will be with oval holes in the hinge mount at the valance. Hieght adjustment will be achived with adjustable stops mounted to the valance. Front to rear adjustment will come from the cowl to valance rods.

Way cool, Mike. A very nice progression from the first look we had.
It is a little hard for me to visualize how the new pivot point helped the hood clear the fenders and what mods you had to do to the radiator valance, but I'm retarded that way.
Randy the piviot points are acually forward from the point where the the fenders meet the hood. (Due to the curve at the front of the hood from side to side) so when you open the hood it actually appears to move forward if your watching where the fender meets it. Not real sure how it works, but I fit the fenders up and gave it try and much to my suprise it worked.
Basically on the valance I shaved the hump forward out of the center and ends then just beefed it up near the hinge points.I'll get some pics of it somtime.

Awesome work....now I have a truck here you can work on too...j/king...going to use almost the same setup but with a release point in the rear...the lifters are going to the inside of the fenders that way I dont have to worry about the hinged area in the front of hitting....maybe some mods but hopefully not to drastic...
How about the long straps on the hood hinge? Are they sturdy enough not to bend if you get a gust of wind? It is hard to see if you reinforced them, and it does look like the hood has a lot of leverage to use against the final bend at the mounting bolts.
