2002 Explorer Transmission

First time posting. My 02 Ford Explorer when you hit the brakes extremely hard seems to jump out of gear. Several times now I have been caught by a light and had to hit the brakes hard and when the light turns green and I hit the gas no gear. After a second or two it jumps into gear but the engine rmp is several thousand. Is this the intent of FORD or is this a problem?

Maybe its low on tranny fluid ?

I had this problem with mine ..... tranny fluid was low .. topping up to the corrcet level fixed the problem!
