In the spring I posted about rebuilding my oil cooler. It all went fine intill I put it back on and it peged the manual oil presure gauge then blew the oring out of the fliter leaving a nice mess to clean up. Somone on here said the bypass valve in the rear header was stuck so I removed the oil filter and pressed the valve in it seemed to work fine I put it back together and the truck ran and worked fine. I had the stock gauge hooked up this time and it would go to the top of the gauge but after it wormed up it went to about the middle of the gauge. I drove the truck around my house all summer still doing some repairs to get it road worthy it worked fine. I went out this morning to move it to put a hearter core in it and it would not start. No fuel out the injector pump so off came the injector pump and one went one off the parts truck. Started it up and heard a pop and it quit I thought sh$$ not again looked under the truck and there was oil comming out of the filter and the o ring was hanging out. Now that you know the story what should I do? Can the bypass be removed or will it not build any oil presure? I have a used one put I hate to put it on and have an o ring go bad and fill the cooling system with oil, not fun to get out. Also has any one ever heard of an ip only failing when it was cold? Mine worked fine intill it got bellow 50 then it would start and then stall. When it was 60 the other day it work fine then it was 45 today it did it again. If you would let it sit for half an hour it would start up intill this morning when it started and quit and never fired agian what a start to a crap day. Sorry about the long post but I wanted everyone to know the story before they tryed to help? I hope I can get this truck going again I need it to plow snow.

 

Where did you install the manual guage..........

Which filter brand and # are you using........next how did you tighten the filter. Hand tightonly or hand tight until the gasket seated on the cooler then 1.5 to 2 turns more.
