This year is the first time I have had to have my F-250 Heavy Duty Super cab LWB 4X4 smog tested... It is a 5.8 Ltr 5 spd. The inspector couldn't find the DLC. Book states it should be in the middle lower dash area. I couldn't find it either so they failed the truck. HELP! Tags die Monday! I need my truck! Thanks in advance.

1997 - Driver's side between steering column and center hump, underneath dash, protective cover

It is a little asinine, ain't it? Not to mention lazy and some other unsubmittable words.
Hey.. they're Gov workers The truck used to be big enough that it was exempt! Its a 1997... Thanks for the input, but thats where we looked. The only mod on the truck is a K & N air cleaner. This one is a babied cream puff used strictly to haul cars to shows ( or junkers that I drag home ) and light Home Depot duty. When a heavy load is involved I use the trailer so the bed doesn't get scratched... ( sorry... I'm a freak and spent 2 years looking for a truck like this! )
its goverment standards that light duty vehicles 96 and newer have a obd2 DLC connector that can been seen from the "crouching technican" view or can reach it from the drivers seat.
If that happened to me i would go straight to the top and then try to get the fool fired...
We both looked and with a good trouble light. I've been rebuilding cars since I was 11... and * cof cof* 40-something... Neither one of us could find it. Heck this thing even still has the OEM ( yuck ) stereo! I'll get under there tonight when I'm not in a suit and tie and have another look see. Thanks again. Likin' this page already I always pull Fords with this one. Tons of Mustangs and I'm a sucker for the 429 cars. Had a few 79 Ford trucks too. Wish I still had the 79 F-250 460 granny 4 spd w/ 4:10 gears. ... and 3 gas tanks

I had a '77 F350 w/460 and a '79 F350 w/460. Sweet engine, deep bellow with 4 inch stacks (VROOOM!)
But, the V10 has it beat and beyond. Truthfully I was disappointed that they let the 460 go away, but after I mashed the gas on this one....can't go back.
