1948-1960: 1949/1950 VIN # Cut off

Havi, I decided to go back soon and get the Twin Hi-Way Horns as long as they are affordable. (thanks to Chuck for clarifying that was an option not an aftermarket).

I'm gonna look through the shoebox broncos to see if I can find a 9" with a 3.50 LSD as well.
I'm not up for making the trip today, but it will be fairly soon if I can swing it. Obviously truck #3 - gotcha, will look at that one. but which other truck did you want me to look at?
I tend to assume given your humor you are just pullin my leg, but I'll ask are you serious - which F / T?
All,
I only looked through the 40-50's section and gave a real quick cursory look at the 50'-60 section (the one with the grill guard stood out and I caught pics of it). When I make my next trip I'll look for glove box tags (forgot that as mine has no tag and I kinda forget sometimes they are there).... don't think I'll scrub the frames but will look for more trucks.
Other than the 7 desired items & toolboxes, what else would you guys like for me to note on these and the rest of my findings?

Truck #1 and #3. So when you grab the twin horns, look on the block for 8MTH. Underneath on the side of the tranny, it should read T98. If it's full of crud, look at the mount going to the crossmember, it should have an "open face" going towards the front of the truck, since the T98 is longer than any other transmission.
The serial number for truck #2, should be 87HT162482 noting it as a 1948 F4 with the 226 cid I6. That T may look like an F, but it looks like a T to me.

Will check and do on all accounts.
Truck #1 has 8MTH on the head and the intake manifold (pic #17).
Truck #2 has F4 ghost outline where the badge should be (pic #21)
Truck #3 has 1H on the head (intake has already been robbed - pic #34)
so I will concur that #2 is certainly should be 87HT as you suggest. ( I still say it "looks" like an T with a F leg)

When I bought my parts truck F6, I initially thought it was an 8MTH, the serial plate said it was, the intake said it was, the carb said it was, but it wasn't. It was swapped out for a 226cid 7H, and the other parts bolted on. I was a bit bummed by it all. Anyway, I'm looking for an 8MTH block.
If the trannies are T98s, I'd let Chuck of Chuck's trucks LLC know, he was looking for one or more.

Just purchased and could use some help!
Hello,
I have read some of the posts and would love to see if you could help. Recently purchased 1950 F-1
1 - 1950
2 - 97HC4288629CS
3 - Raised Panel
4 - original...I believe so
5 - 3 Speed
6 - floor shift
7 - this was a little hard due to paint but this is sort of what I made out
48615F162
the 8 could be a "6, S, or 9"
The F could also be an "E"
The Vin was the same for the glove box, and inside of the engine compartment, but i can't seem to find it on the frame....another picture would be helpful if possible. I have looked on the right side frame but its not there...maybe it has been lost along the way...

I just recently found my frame Vin#. It was on the passenger side, just to the right of the shock tower on the top rail. The numbers are very faint, and I had to vigorously use a wire bush to get the rust off and see it clearly. I bought a new frame for the truck and it had the Vin in the same spot

I'm glad this thread came up again. With the front clip off I can get a better look at the almost indiscernible firewall stamp. Unlike the other pics in this thread my stamp is under the cowl seam at the top of the firewall, as opposed to being over the firewall/cowl seam.
My best guess is:
3HM1OE48 alternate reading???
CHM1CE48 - The top and bottom points of the 3 are clear, but all the other stamps seem to start with a letter. The only possibility is C. The H has no cross bar, but doesn't appear to be an 11. The M is clear. The top of the 1 is clear and looks just like the font here. The O/C is nearly a perfect circle, but the right side is impossible to read. the E48 is clear.
My VIN is already in here somewhere.
Thoughts?
Jim

"Looks to be a 49 F1 6 cylinder. Did you verify that is the number stamped in the frame? Please post pics."
