I'm going to do 10 trucks in one post cause a lot of details are missing here (this is a junkyard post, mainly to give guys serial/vins for those collecting numbers)
I'm not claiming to know any of these trucks - if you stare at the pictures and decide to challenge me and claim my guess of a 'T' is really an 'R' well so be it you may be right, I didn't have time to take tracings or anything :P
I've posted all these, as well as a few large panoramics of the whole yard (including some 'stangs, old tudors, just about anything you can name).
I also took google maps and stitched together the whole lot - in short just see my website:

BB: Classic Cars - Martin's Supply, Windsor CO

All pictures of the first truck are named 01#.jpg, 2nd truck is 02#.jpg, etc - each truck is organized in its own row, small resolutions the rows will wrap though.
Pictures are clickable thumbnails so don't stare at a tiny 120x160 image trying to guess the serial - click on it for native resolution (8mp typically).

Something interesting to me, assuming at least a few of these are pretty original (some had plates from 1960 and look to have been parked since 1960) I thought it was really interesting to note the toolbox dilema.. seems square versus round wasn't a early/mid/late - change... I'm guessing as Bob one time said "They used whatever they could get /whatever a local supplier could provide".

Not a single one of em had a radio. There was a radio delete plate or two - all beige, no stainless steel.
I did not have enough time to check frame serial numbers to see if they matched or anything. I showed up late and didn't have time to really look for my parts, and it was a nice day so I just piddled around wandering and taking pictures.

If you really want more info / price etc you might try contacting martin's directly since I am about an hour away and it's not a route I make often, but I could possibly be talked into going back since I need parts anyhow :P PM me and tell me what you want, and be very patient cause I am not going on anyone's schedule but mine.
(just google Martin's Supply, Windsor CO)

You can't edit your post now. You have a period of one month to edit your post if you made a mistake. Otherwise... tough chit.

I'm pretty sure if you ask the mods nicely, they can probably go back and edit that number if you really want. But honestly, there are hundreds and hundreds of VIN numbers listed in this thread. I wouldn't sweat it too much. That was actually the whole point of the thread when it was started a long time ago. They were trying to pinpoint the exact cutoff between the 49 and 50 trucks.

Would it not be so cool to own the LAST '49 or the FIRST '50? This thread narrowing it down?

bed-not sure the difference
transmission 3 or 4 speed

#stamped- CHM13L74D and it looks like a 2 right below the stamp centered under the rest of the numbers. thanks for helping

brain75, the pics show the 98MTH trucks to still have the engines in them. I'd be interested to see if it says 8MTH on the blocks, and if a look underneath at the trannies will show them as a T98's? (and that F looks like a T to me)

danaca, welcome to FTE! the serial number you have shows what I think is a 1950, with the 226cid flathead 6.

7HA6050 is merely the number for that part, being it's a flathead 6 prior to 1951, it'll say 7H on just about every part. The stamping on the firewall/cowl area will tell us the color code and such, yes. Post it up or look up yours and match to others in this thread to figure it out.

My guess then, would be Chicago factory, Meadow green color, then the date (November 13th and 74th vehicle down the assembly line that day..... I think. Each plant did things their own way, so to speak.

Sometimes Dads can be confused or mistaken. Not often, but it does happen. Likely he was just passing along what he was told. According to your numbers it appears your truck is a late 1950 model F1 with the 226 6 cylinder flathead. The CH in your firewall stamp indicates it was built in Chicago, color code M, production date 13L which decodes to November 13, 1950. That's about all your numbers tell us. Only you can tell if it's a 3 or 4 speed. There was a running change in the construction design of the beds during the 1950 model year. Yours is likely the later style with flat bed sides and square stake pockets. Earlier models had a sculptured raised panel in the sides and curved stake pockets. Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum, and sorry for your loss.
