The truck is regestered as a 48, F1 In the space where is says "Previous Title Number" it says bond. They require a bond for the potential value of the truck. In my case they said that that value was $19,125.00 so I had to get a Bond for that amount. If you do a little shopping you can find and insurance company that will Bond for 1% of that value or $191.00. The title search cost $3.00 and the Tile was $4.00 so My total cost to get the title was $198.00. They also told me that when I am ready for plates just bring in the title and they will issue plates, no inspection required. I have a total of about three hours invested in this process and that includes loading the truck in the trailer to get the level one inspection.

My F1 is also titled with the letter Y. Look at the leaf spring shackles or the motor perches for a letter C in the part number, and notice if they are held in place with the original rivets. It has been documented that some f1's were titled with the letter Y instead of C. (Y typically meaning F3 and C meaning F1)
One explanation is that back then, not everyone could read or write, or one not paying attention, could easily stamp the wrong letter. Human error was very real back in the day, not like today with everything done by robots.

The more that we look into this truck the more confusing that it gets. We have the frame number, it was located in front of the motor mount on the drivers side. It is clearly for a F3 number however the truck is on a 114" wheel base, not 122" and the frame shows no signs that it was shortened. The frame rails are 6" as a F3 should be. O well were off to the DMV next week to see about a title.
Does your 6" measurement refer to the height of the frame rails? Where did you make this measurement? I haven't measured mine yet, but I believe they are shallower & thus standard F1.

It sounds like the assemble stamps. This isn't on a tag, but into the cab. There is a Patent Plate that is on the passanger side of the firewall, there is also a Rate Plate that is placed on the glovebox door. Others have figuried out the assembly stamps, but I havent...

8 = '48
8R = V8
C = F-1
(here there should be an assembly plant code, 2 letters)
52981 = consecutive production number for that assembly plant
No clue on the 7HII... stamping; Could it be HM, which stands for Highland Park MI plant?
