rust on the front of the hood
#5
As probably already aware, finding hoods in decent condition extremely rare. As jd recommended, cut out and weld would be an alternative if severly rusted. In case of my 65, was able to remove the rust and still have sufficient metal remaining and able to use fiber glass filler. Can't remember whether used the light weight, or long/short hair filler. Anyhow, repaired couple years ago and still holding up while i look for replacement. If recall, there was a Ford parts supplier who offered the hood in fiber glass but have not looked lately.
Good luck,

64ford-truck! I am surprised by just how much rust free sheetmetal is available for these old Fords. Sheet is not plentiful by any means but finding a solid hood will not be that difficult a problem. This is especially true in the west. I'd post a parts wanted add here in the classifieds and there is a junk yard in Colorado Springs that has many of these old fords. Parts are available, don't give up! If you find a good hood I'd bet you could get the core support and sell that to cover the cost of the hood.

64ford_truck , I had a little rust on the nose of my hood and fixed it with good results but the rust was not extensive. I removed the hood, sandblasted the affected area inside and out, saturated the area with POR 15 and then used plastic body filler to smooth it out. That was several years ago and there is no sign of the rust returning. Good liuck, Steve
