Anyone have one? I would like to see some pictures of the setup, like from underneath, how everythign is setup inside the cab and if there is extra stuff on the fire wall for wiring and such. thanks
I have one in a 56 panel truck. The only thing different in the cab is the addition of the overdrive cable-handle assembly and the kickdown switch located under the gas pedal. There is a relay on the fire wall for the trans and the cable comes thru the firewall. As for the under side of the truck it mounts like the 3 speed. There is no crossmember on the tailshaft.
I have a page on my site that shows partial disassembly of my overdrive: Overdrive Tranny
Here are a couple pictures of it in the chassis:
I'm probably a year away from getting the controls in the cab. The blue tape in the pictures is covering the solenoid and governor holes as well as the slot used to remove the snap ring.
thanks for the pics the build looks great. also does anyone know or can tell me the span of these tranies? how long ford used them? are they all the same? as in one from 19?? to 19?? would work?? thanks
on the kick down switch how is it mounted under the pedel? Is it thought the floor? has a braket or what? i have seen pictures of just the switch but not mounted. thanks
Kevin - gorgeous brake lines. How did you flare the ends?
Why, I used the tool you so generously loaned me.
I think I'm done with it. I have all of Frankie's brake lines bent, too. I'm going to rebuild the master cylinder and everything should be good. Then I'll have two trucks waiting to have their engines fired.
can anyone tell me or know from how far back one will work? I am pretty shure past 56 untill in the late 60's are about the same?? I know the car od are divverent in the shifter and input shaft, but what about the truck? I am not worried about drive line lenght or really case size for that matter but rather what would bolt up to my y and work? I have both bell housings if that makes a difference(the 4 speed and the 3 speed). I am trying to narrow down what year tranies could work. thanks
