08 F250 6.4 wont start hot -cold runs fair

Low mileage F250 . Got a check engine light then wrench light then BOTH went away and ran ok. Came back on yesterday on 65 mile trip home. Had to make one stop, 30 minutes later came back to truck tried to start...crank...no start---wanted to but didnt. Towed it home on flatbed. This morning after sitting overnight, started fine, but check engine light (no wrench), drove to work, buddy had OBD2 generic scanner, said two codes both fuel rail pressures low. Then with it hot, no start again. Its gonna go to the dealer I guess. I dont mind paying them, but last time they had it for a oil change and fuel filter change and tire rotation they put a HUGE dent in the hood from raising it on the lift with hood open and hood hit lift beam, I had it paintless dent repaired but still made me mad so now I try to avoid dealer. Any thoughts? Is this a common problem? I have always driven GMC's.

sounds like either EGR or fuel pump related. What were the exact codes? Sensors that is.

This may have been the code:
P0087 X X Fuel Rail/System
Pressure - Too Low
This error will be set if the fuel pressure in the rail is too
low and the controller cannot regulate it to the setpoint.
20 % “overposition” of the
PCV or VCV [% PWM]
5% deviation of the fuel rail pressure
to the fuel rail pressure setpoint.
Low pressure system, wiring to
VCV and PCV, FUP sensor, pump

same here it’s a fuel temperature issue
hard to compress to 5000 psi when it’s 180 degrees
what did you find out

If it dies and won't start but does a few minutes later my first thoughts would be EGT 14 sensor.

They would al parallel each other.

When cold, before a start see what they all read. If the motor is cold, I would expect them all to read ambient temps.
