buy a 250 or 350 ?

I am looking at getting a super duty 2000-2003. Either a 250 or 350 PSD and don't know what the diff between the 2 are, like brakes, suspension or ride qualities. My son has a 2000 250 PSD so I have that reference

Can you guys educate me?

Thanks
Jerry

Go with the 350...I do believe that the 350 has a better turning radius...(verification please)

You can never have too much truck, but you can easily have not enough.

Differences, assuming single rear wheel 350:

Four-inch axle spacer in rear instead of 2-1/2 inch.

Slightly longer rear shocks to compensate for the increase in the spacer blocks.

Longer rear U-bolts to compensate for the above.

Different GVWR on the manufacturer's post plate to reflect an increase from 8800 pounds to 9900. (Legally, heavier duty.)

Different chrome fender badges.

Same spring packs, front and rear, same ride, same turning radius. Driver may sit about 3/4 inch higher above roadway due to rear spacer blocks.

I would think the purpose or intended use of the truck would answer that question, unless you are like the millions that just want to drive a truck for transportation. In that case, get the 250 and impress everyone by replacing the badges with 350's.

Except for an almost unnoticable difference in tailgate height, no one would ever know. I've considered putting the smaller spacers in mine.

Used? Likely not a whole lot of difference. Try the Kelly Blue Book on-line and see.

once the f-350 is leveled out (the front springs eventually fade), it looks semi-lifted. i like how it sits about 2'' (duh) higher than the f-250's do. makes sense. its stupid to call the same truck a 3/4 ton and 1 ton.

Agreed, I never saw the sense of it either. At least add an extra leaf to the rear spring or something so you could easily tell.
