LAST EDITED ON 11-Apr-01 AT 09:54 AM (EST)[p]Man posts like this get me all teary eyed and emotional!!! I had a grandad who served in WWII as a tank commander. My mother's uncle stormed the beachs of Iwo Jima and was greeted by a hail of machine gun from a machine gun nest. He made it back but had health problems since then. My uncle did a few tours in Vietnam. Man some of the stories who used to tell me when I was a kid scared the ##### out of me! Those stories rattled my cage to the point I hope this nation never goes to war again. To all of the men who served this country so I might live and have a good life I thank you!

You guys have ***** bigger than Superman's!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My great, great grandpa was at Little Big Horn. In fact he was killed there. He wasn't with Custer or anything like that. He was prospecting and went over the ridge to complain about the racket.

I was in Nam 69-70. Combat trucker, gun truck gun jeep and mostly tractor trailer pulling ordinance. Over 33000 combat miles in one year.

USN. Never 'in country'. Flying from NAS Cubi Point and RTNAB U-Tapao, Thailand. Shared the U-Tapao runways with U-2's and Buffs and on the weekends shared 'Patio' Beach with the gals from the embassies in Bangkok. Recon over Nam, Cambodia and other points of 'interest'. "Highway Patrol" for the "Yellow Brick Road" that ran up the Vietnamese Coast. Flying over and taking pictures of the NVA's invasion of Danang in 75 and the ensuing weenie roast taking place on the ground.

EDIT: removed content that is probably just my Rant and is a Moot point now since all the Birds are gone now, and most of us are gone too.

Last I heard my Bird was doing some logging in Alaska but it is no longer Air Worthy so will never fly again

I spent two years in the Army from 1-71 to 1-73 but didn't go overseas. I wanted to thank all of the guys who did go to Vietnam for their service. There are a lot of videos on YouTube made by guys who talk about their time over there. Some made it sound not too bad and others made it sound like a living hell. Anyone who served in a combat unit over there is a hero in my book. Thank you....
