What do you mean by axle ratio under the features list? Does that simply mean you can input your axle ratio and the tune compensates for it? What about if I have larger tires but did not change gears? The tune can't compensate for that I would imagine.

Well everone here seems to like the SCT products. I have run them on a few of my past cobras and what not, so i can't bash their products. As far as the perfect tuner/module for these trucks IMO has to be the Edge with attitude platinum addition. If you haven't researched it you need to! I have looked at tuners and talked to many of the manufactures myself since i have sold most of the products out there. The new Edge has Transmission program inwhich everyone is consurned about, also has the ability to read and clear Trouble codes. Now, i will say that this tuner is for the guys that plan on or are already running a high flow exhaust especially since the power it makes is AWESOME!(keep those EGT'S down} Plus with this module, if you are worried about hurting your truck, you can set it up to shut off before any damage is done to your truck. My favorite part of this product is the fact that you can adjust it while driving. No more need to stop and retune the truck just select the power level you desire and run. It is definitly worth checking out! I promise you wont be disappointed.
I traded my 2002 in for a 2005 and am trying to figure out what performance items I want to do. I've had superchips and the Predator before, exhaust, tri gauges, AFE intake, dodad mod, etc. I've done my homework and have come to the same conclusion as you. The new Edge Platinum seems to be the answer. It even fits on the stock A pillar so you don't have to remove the grab handle.
My only concern is with Ford and Warranty issues. It appears that you can't remove this before going back to the dealer...so what do you think? Could this be an issue? I suppose you could return it to stock and say it was just for monitoring?
Also, do you have yours installed and how do you like it? I think the cooldown feature is awesome...i always forget or don't want to wait after pulling my boat and everyone is waiting for me to get back down to the dock...I'd be afraid to leave it running for the first time or two.
Did you install it yourself? I understand it is pretty easy?
With EDGE I am assuming that to remove any trace of the tuner you would have to remove the fuel box from under the hood and the monitor from in the cab. All the reading I have done has shown the Attitude monitor plugs into the Juice Platinum fuel box to get measurements (except for EGT).
This sounds too difficult and time consuming compared to plug in a tuner and returning the stock program. However, the ability to change power levels at the push of the button was/is very appealing.
I think I have come to the conclusion that I want an SCT XCAL2. I have to call a SCT dealer to verify but it sounds like I can use it on my 2001 expedition and my 2003 6.0
Yes, the SCT XCAL2 9415 we sell can be used up to 5 vehicles, before it has to be sent back to be reset. You can only use it at one vehicle at a time. You consider an SCT with a triple gauge pod is the better deal and takes about 2 minutes to tune with it, and much more adjustments within your control. Let us know if we can be of any help. We have them in stock.
If you are seriously considering going with a programmer. Bully Dog has a free test program for their triple dog downloader. You can actually go to a dealer and he will let you try it before you buy it. The download lasts for about 3 days and is limited to a 50-70 HP boost in HP. If you like it you buy it, if you don't your not out anything. It's a really cool deal.
To answer you question, i did intall myself. Very easy Just like roozter said, in order to take it in for warranty, you first need to remove the the actually module from the truck. Inless you are going in for non motor related warrantly work. Dealer hasn't said anything to me about mine, but then again i am having no problems and have been running the unit for almost a month now. Man I love this thing . Just got done moving from TX to NC, and had to tow my boat and all my stuff 1300 miles. After the trip i averaged almost 15 MPG with the edge on power level 2 and truck was in the tow/haul mode. I couldn't be happier If you have any question feel free to email me @ RedFireSnake@hotmail.com
P.S. Oh yeah and as far as the truck and running after you shut it off, if anyone tries to still it, the truck will shut off as soon as the hit the brake without the key. Plus I love how people stare at me when i walk away from my truck and it is still running, But then again i really get looked at when the truck starts by itself LOL
What kind of mileage can a person exspect to get with the addition of a tuner/chip? And how much more should a person exspect to get with a better air intake and exhaust sytem added?

Thanks Dave. Good info. I understand that on the Excursions they are very easy to install and remove...maybe 30 min each time. I think it is worth the trouble as few as times as I end up at the dealer. I'm hoping that they got it right by the build date of Sept 29, 2005 (day before last day for the X). I may take you up on the email. I moved from Texas to here in Utah and now tow up and down mountains...this is why I upgraded to the new 2005 and why I need gages and a programmer, etc. I just think this thing fits my needs perfect. I don't know why there is not alot of talk about it. In fact, the new A2 starts shipping Thursday and it is even more exciting product from Edge.
I've had the others (still have my Predator for my 7.3- Need to sell it on Ebay) and they work..but many times I tow and then the next day I'm back to driving in the city, etc. I figure the mutliple of times I have to wait 5-6 minutes with each change will not equal the amount of time should I have to remove to send it into the dealer. I estimate I change programs about 20 tims a year...that is 100 minutes...so I could change it out a few times and be even. Besides, not haveing to reprogram and wait...I probably will try the different tunes more often.
